Laura Nyro (Pronounced NEAR-oh) (1947-1997) The mother of a son,she died at age 49 of complications from ovarian cancer.A shy person,she didn't like being in the limelight.She stayed with Columbia Records her whole career.Born and raised in the Bronx,New York City,she eventually relocated to rural Connecticut.
