Civil War Song;Cold Mountain;CSNY at Big Sur

Tonight is featured the Civil War song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."
A film trailer for the Civil War movie "Cold Mountain"is presented here as well.The movie,starring Jude Law,Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger,is still popular today.You can watch it on YouTube for a small fee.A trailer for "Cold Mountain" is provided here tonight.Renee Zellweger won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the picture.*
Some young people may not realise that the song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" uses the word "gay" in its original sense of "happy."It's another song we used to sing in grade school.It is performed here by Mitch Miller and his chorus.Miller rose to fame in the 1950s with a series of "Sing Along" LPs,which gave rise to the NBC TV series "Sing Along With Mitch" in 1960.He was originally an oboist and went on to become an Artists and Repertoire man at Columbia Records,developing the careers of recording artists.Miller received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2000 and died in 2010.*
Crosby,Stills,Nash and Young performed "Down By The River" at the Big Sur Folk Festival in 1969.They were accompanied by bassist Greg Reeves and drummer Dallas Taylor,who also played on their "Deja Vu" album.The festival at Big Sur,California was held annually from 1964-1971.*
At the RBC Canadian Open in Oakville,Ontario,Americans Chad Campbell and Brian Harman topped the leaderboard in first and second place,respectively,as of publication time.Canadian David Hearn was in third with his second round eleven under par 67.The tournament is being held at the Glen Abbey Golf Club,about 27 miles from Toronto.
