About Shawn Phillps;Evian Masters Golf

Tonight is featured another song by American singer-songwriter Shawn Phillips,"Song for Sagittarians."The native of Fort Worth,Texas was born in 1943,during World War II,the son of best-selling spy novelist Philip Atlee, who took his family around the world with him. This gave young Shawn the chance to absorb many musical styles, seeding an eclectic approach that has pleased his large and dedicated following over the course of his 20 albums and countless tour dates. He is currently touring in Quebec,Canada.
Phillips draws on folk-rock,pop,jazz,progressive and classical influences. He has likewise mastered a number of guitar types, from electric and acoustic 6 and 12-string single neck to double neck instruments, and even to his own way of playing the sitar.*
After serving in the US Navy,Phillips ended up in California and the folk music scene of the early 1960s.He went on to co-write and perform songs with Donovan Leitch in England, although mostly uncredited for it,and played in world music festivals and club dates. In 1992,A&M Records recognised his significant fan base by issuing a best of LP,including a new song.*
In LPGA golf, the season's final major is underway with the Evian Masters taking place at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian les Bains,France. The setting is between the Alpine foothills of Eastern France and Lake Geneva,Switzerland. At the second round,South Korean Mi Hyang Lee topped the leader board with her four under par 67;while American Morgan Pressel, who hasn't won a tournament in seven years, was second with a six under 65.Nicole Broch Larsen of Denmark secured third place on the board with her second round four under par 67,still impressive after her victory in the Ladies European Tour's Helsingborg,Sweden Open last weekend, just over the border from her hometown.
