World Golf Championships - Mexico Championship - Mickelson,McIlroy in contention

Phil Mickelson staged an amazing recovery in Saturday's third round of the WGC-Mexico Championship.Mickelson hit only 4 of 18 fairways, but hit 8 of 18 greens. It was typical Phil as he played worst in the field on the fairways;but,at the same time, was best in strokes gained on the greens. He birdied on three consecutive holes,15-17.Although he bogeyed the 18th,Mickelson still shot a three under 68 for the day, landing him in third place with Rory McIlroy, who is coming off an eight-week layoff with a cracked rib,for Sunday's final round.
McIlroy said that,if he had played the fairways like Mickelson,he'd have shot an 80.The golfers are building up to the year's first major,The Masters in early April.
The tournament is being played at an altitude of 7800 feet at the Club de Golf Chapulpetec in Mexico City.*
