This Week's Music&Film-October 3,2014

This week we have a blend of entertainment, with a film trailer in "Taken 3," a live video in Steve Winwood and Chaka Khan's "Higher Love," a studio/location video in Selena Gomez&The Scene's "Round&Round," and some stills in Jefferson Starship's "With Your Love" and Lauryn Vyce's "Let Me Be." "Taken 3" starring Liam Neeson will hit the cinemas in January 2015.
Winwood and Khan's "Higher Love" is a classic duet from the VH1 cable channel, while Lauryn Vyce's "Let Me Be" was posted on YouTube a year ago.Jefferson Starship's "With Your Love" includes former Jefferson Airplane members Paul Kantner,Marty Balin and Grace Slick." Selena Gomez&The Scene's "Round&Round" was filmed in Budapest,Hungary.
I try to vary the music so we don't nod off.Have a great time with these songs. You don't even have to go out-I brought them all in here.

Van Halen;Grace Slick;Mickelson Improves

This week was featured possibly Van Halen's most romantic song,"Love Walks In." Sammy Hagar aced the vocal.I couldn't imagine David Lee Roth handling that one with his abrasive style.*
Grace Slick is shown handling two different genres equally well, rock and pop,in Jefferson Airplane's "Volunteers" and Jefferson Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now."*
Phil Mickelson was starting to take off in yesterday's second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville,Kentucky.Although Rory McIlroy and Jason Day held first and second place on the leader board of the year's last major, respectively,Phil hit some brilliant long putts to move himself up to seventh place with a six under par 67.He eagled the eighteenth hole.
I made a good putt on 17 and then eagled 18,Mickelson said.I've got to go lower tomorrow because so many guys are around minus five, six or seven.*
Well, the summer weekends are dwindling. Before we know it,September will be with us.

About Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship

Jefferson Starship is the sucessor band to the late nineteen sixties,Woodstock era group Jefferson Airplane. It was founded in 1974,after Jefferson Airplane had disbanded,by Jefferson Airplane members and romantic partners, guitarist Paul Kantner and vocalist Grace Slick. This band has experienced many personnel and stylistic changes over the decades, but continues to tour to this day, with only Kantner remaining from the Jefferson Airplane days.
Two of the songs featured this week are "Somebody To Love" by Jefferson Airplane and "We Built This City" by Jefferson Starship,to give you a sample of both the original band and its successor.
Today, vocalist Cathy Richardson, along with Kantner and four other musicians, guitarists David Freiberg and Jude Gold, along with drummer Donny Baldwin and keyboardist Chris Smith, comprise Jefferson Starship.
Former Jefferson Starship vocalist Mickey Thomas also has a band touring under the name Starship-without the Jefferson.
Confusing,but always exhilarating.
